Tell her/him that you have plans.

Dude, someone stole my stuff yesterday morning! Woke up to get my tour of the California Indian Museum and quickly learned that someone had crow barred the passenger’s side window of my van and took off with everything except my golf clubs, some CD’s, the analog/digital converter I use for recording and my Bible.
Everything else is gone. Two handmade guitars, Marshall amp, laptop computer, recording microphone, not to mention all of my clothes and personals. Yes, it’s true. Someone made off with the clothes washed in the blood.

Huge inconvenience. But I’m in no pain and my van still runs and there is a General Assembly to attend. Spent the morning talking to police (in Sacramento, it takes over two weeks to file a report), and to insurance companies. The church secretary Emily is writing a description of my guitars and faxing them to all of the pawn shops and music stores in Sacramento.

After all of the resulting phone calls were made, I gave myself a little time to digest the day and strolled around some Japanese Maple trees located in a Botanical garden in Dunsmuir. Had to allow my brain to adjust to today’s paradigm shift. God is good. Jesus is calling me to Portland. And possessions can tighten your tethers to the world. I need to focus on the tingle of letting things go. Letting go can be more soul-energizing than accepting new things to add to your collection of stuff.

My pastor called. Ben Bohren is a phenomenon. You know how he knew to call me? He heard it on the wind. He saw it in the breaking waves. He has global connections - friendly eyes everywhere. Do you realize that if who we are as persons is largely based on the social web we have constructed - how immense Ben Bohren’s soul must be?

He called to comfort, and he did.

Tina Heck called as well. She is starting her own blog with the title: moon women. As soon as I have internet connection, I’ll have to check it out.

Right now, I’m holed up in the Running Y Ranch near Klamath Falls. I had to charge a new PC from Circuit City so I can keep this blog up and because I guess I need a new PC. Praise be to the Creator that this theft didn’t happen to me when I was in my 20’s. Let’s just say that I have not always been the robust big dog soul that now writes to you. Back when certain parts of my anatomy were more important to me than the Spirit -- well, read what Paul says about it. If this had happened to me when I was in my 20’s, I’d be randomly chewing on metal and punching things that make lots of noise when you break them.

Long, long sleep at the Running Y. Coffee and leftover corn on the cob. There is an eagle screaming on top of a cedar tree in direct height proportions as my balcony. The golfers below aren’t cussing very loudly. God is good. Christ is calling me to Portland. And spirit abounds.
